RDATE:10082011

Turku, Finland -- Axel Technologies is pleased to announce that our Fuugo TV software has been shortlisted at the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards at IBC2011.

Fuugo is the next generation TV application for mobile and handheld devices redefining TV by integrating broadcast TV, mobile TV, Internet TV and video with social media into one single application. Fuugo has now been chosen as finalist for the applications that transform mobile phones and other portable devices into multimedia devices or secondary screens for locating additional information related to broadcast TV.

The awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner at the Hotel Okura Amsterdam on Monday 12 September, at the penultimate night of IBC2011. The Awards showcase many exciting developments arising from the growing use of broadband internet - both fixed and mobile - as an alternative distribution channel for TV and video content.

Axel Technologies invention Fuugo was shortlisted among over 150 entries, which were received from organisations in 27 countries across Europe, Asia Pacific and the America.

"We are delighted that Fuugo's user centric approach of modern TV viewing on tablets and other portable devices is again noticed. Fuugo enables the TV-everywhere experience people have been waiting for" stated Petri Kalske, CEO of Axel Technologies. "Been shortlisted on the Portable Device Application category with some of the world's biggest innovation leaders, Motorola and Samsung, is a great honour."

"The response to these inaugural ConnectedWorld.TV Awards has been phenomenal," said Neil Nixon, chairman of the judging panel and editor of ConnectedWorld.TV and IBE. "The range of submissions received gave a fascinating insight into the impact of the Connected World on the wider media industry."
