DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2000

Bundle Enables High-Quality, IP-based Video Communications

to the Desktop With Multi-Point Capabilities

for Group Conferencing and Collaboration

MAX Internet Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:MXIP), a provider of solutions for accelerated video communications over the Internet, and White Pine Software Inc. (Nasdaq:WPNE), a leading provider of multimedia conferencing applications for the Internet and intranets, today announced they will begin shipping a software and hardware bundling of video communications technology that enables users to video conference at up to 30 frames per second (fps), which is the same as television quality.

This new offering, which provides users with a high-quality video solution to the desktop, also enables customers to communicate simultaneously with a group of users, not just a one-to-one video call.

White Pine and MAX Internet Communications' developers have been working together to create the highest quality solution for video and audio conferencing available for a desktop PC. The MAX i.c.Live(TM) 3600R PC card will come bundled with White Pine CU-SeeMe(R) Pro and will begin shipment by the end of April. By developing a solution to integrate both hardware and software, certain video conferencing capabilities can be optimized, like full-motion quality and audio and video synchronization. Until now, standard cards for audio and video have been unable to guarantee the quality and performance for video communications. White Pine and MAX Internet Communications now provide a superior quality of experience for desktop video communications.

"Combining our CU-SeeMe Pro software with the MAX i.c.Live technology has allowed us to provide a better quality of experience for desktop PC users," said Peg Landry, director of marketing for White Pine Software. "We're pleased to be working with MAX Internet Communications to develop joint solutions that will improve the way people communicate with live, interactive video over the Internet."

With the MAX i.c.Live technology, companies can now use the Internet for video conferencing, document collaboration, training and education needs, as well as video streaming and video mail. The patented MAX i.c.Live technology enables a PC or an information appliance to produce full-motion video conferencing and synchronized audio and video using a broadband connection. For the end user, this means increased frame rates of 30 fps and increased synchronization (seeing the mouth move and hearing the sound at the same time).

"The partnering of White Pine and MAX Internet Communications to develop this cost effective solution for high quality IP video communications is born out of the demands of the global marketplace," said Thomas Fehr, Chief Marketing Officer for MAX Internet Communications. "We all understand the effectiveness of face-to-face communications, but the traditional methods of travel or the higher-end ISDN solutions for video conferencing systems are expensive. The MAX i.c.Live 3600 card and the White Pine CU-SeeMe Pro bundle deliver a solution that expands upon the traditional costly boardroom systems and delivers a high-quality video communication solution to the desktop."

CU-SeeMe Pro for Windows 95/98 and NT, is White Pine's next generation video collaboration software enabling real-time interaction over the Internet or corporate intranets. CU-SeeMe Pro is fully standards-compliant via H.323 and T.120, and features full-color video, audio, application sharing and whiteboard. CU-SeeMe is the only group conferencing client on the market today which allows you to see multiple video windows simultaneously. You can connect to a virtual conference room via White Pine's MeetingPoint Conference Server and hold meetings at any time, from any place on the network.
