NSW: Escapee cover -up claims to go to ICAC - report

The New South Wales opposition will refer claims of a cover-up over the escape of a
prisoner from a Sydney jail to the corruption watchdog.

Sydney man ALEX MIHAIL managed to leave Long Bay Correctional Complex unnoticed last Wednesday.

The 50-year-old low-security prisoner was serving a sentence for motor vehicle theft
and traffic offences.

Prison authorities deny he walked out the front gate of the jail .. past private security guards.

But the Seven Network says police were never called to the area of fence where they
say he did escape.

Opposition justice spokesman GREG SMITH says he'll refer the matter to the Independent
Commission Against Corruption.
